Its SO hot.
Not hot, boiling hot.
You know the feeling when you get in a hot bath and you suddenly realise it’s uncomfortably hot and that you might be going to pass out, so you turn on the cold tap? It’s like that.
Without the cold tap.
We have been trying to find accommodation near Cuc Phuong National Park but it was all booked or miles from the park so instead have decided to book a minibus for 7 of us to go and come back in a day. I think 3.5 hours on the back of a motorbike, when we didn’t know where we were going, might have killed us.
On my way to school today I walked past an entire dog being spit roasted. It didn’t even look like a dog anymore, except its teeth were bared and I noticed its paws…
My classes today were actually quite good, am I getting the hang of it? Or am I being lured into a false sense of security?!
Seriously, the people here are so small. I have to be careful when I get on the xe oms (motorbikes) , especially when riding side saddle, because if I don’t warn them before I get on they often over balance haha.
I was doing private teaching in the evening and so needed to wait at the school for an hour but I was starving, so went to the local shop. This was interesting, the woman spoke no English, so at first I thought she was trying to charge me 60,000 vnd for a packet of crisps, then I realised she meant 6,000 and then I complicated the situation by adding two lollipops. The conversation lasted about 10 minutes, as I thought the lollipops were 5,000 vnd each, but apparently they were only 2,000 vnd. All fun and games!!
I finally managed to organise a Vietnamese lesson for myself but Thuy cancelled tonight because she had work to do. (I was supposed to get free Vietnamese lessons as part of my program but they never happened). I have sort of given up learning because it’s just so darn difficult!
